The White Ribbon

As always happens with Haneke I leave the cinema baffled. I've found this sober black and white film quite disturbing because its repulsive cruelty but also fascinating.

Tulpan

This film is an engaging account of life in a Kazakhstan yurta, a skilful study of nomadism, a tender story and beautifully shot but... too much steppe, too much sheep...a little too much of rurality for my taste.

The Walthamstow Tapestry

Grayson Perry, who won the 2003 Turner prize, is well known for his beautifully crafted pots decorated with often uncomfortable scenes of modern life. Now he has produced a monumental tapestry, 15 metres long and three metres high, replete with characteristically Perry-esque scenes of consumer excess and grim retribution. If you have never been before, now is an excellent time to visit the interesting Victoria Miro gallery where this work exhibits.

Descubrí a este vídeo artista danés en Lisboa. Me gusta la estética cinematográfica de sus vídeos, su belleza extraña, su ambigüedad. Ofrecen una consciente complejidad psicológica que invita a múltiples interpretaciones.
